There are many different types of pancakes. In France and England, pancakes are commonly called crepes. These thin pancakes are usually topped with lemon juice or syrup. In Germany, pancakes are referred to as pfannkuchen, and are usually served as strips that are dipped in soup. In Scotland, they call them ulster; they are the origin of the American flapjack. Scandinavian pancakes are usually served with whipped cream and jam. There are many more variations of pancakes to be found worldwide; they are not restricted to Europe.
